Questions

Who has to take the taxi SERU?

All new taxi applicants, and drivers whose licence ends on or after 1 October 2025. You pass it once; it is not taken again at future renewals.

What is the taxi SERU format?

36 questions in 60 minutes, with a pass mark of 60% (TfL, Notice 06/25). You use TfL's copy of the handbook at the desk, not your own, and you can't bring or make notes.

What happens if I fail the taxi SERU?

You can retake it as many times as you need. Each retest costs £30 (TfL, Notice 05/26). Renewing drivers who applied in time can keep working and have 12 months from expiry to pass (TfL, Notice 06/25).

When do I get my result?

Within 15 days (TfL, Notice 06/25).
