Questions
Is the free test really free?
Yes. The free test has 12 questions. You see your score, the sections you missed and every answer explained. We don't ask for a card or an email.
How long does the free test take?
The timer gives you 20 minutes for 12 questions. Most people finish sooner. You can stop early and still see your results.
Are 12 questions enough to know if I am ready?
No. 12 questions is a first look; the real test has 36. The free test shows which sections to start with. A full practice test, timed at 60 minutes, tells you much more, and practice test 1 is free too, no sign-up.
What is in the real SERU test?
Taxi: 36 questions in 60 minutes, pass mark 60% (TfL, Notice 06/25). PHV: pass mark 60% (TfL, 2024 video); candidates in 2026 report 36 questions in 60 minutes, and older reports 37 in 45. Candidates say the test starts with 12 fill in the blanks, then 22 multiple choice, then 2 reading questions. Some multiple choice questions say "Select two". Our full tests use this order and offer a strict 45-minute timer. Format last checked 3 Nov 2026.
How do fill in the blanks questions work?
You read a sentence with gaps. In the real test each gap has a drop-down list with the same 6 words, and you can't use a word twice (TfL videos, 2024 and 2025). Our full tests work the same way. In practice drills you tap a word, then tap the gap, so it is quick on a phone.
What do I see when I finish?
Your score against the 60% pass mark, the sections you missed, and every answer explained with the handbook page. You can also read 5 explanations in your language for free: Urdu, Bengali, Romanian, Arabic, Pashto or Persian (Farsi/Dari).
Is it the same as the TfL test?
It works the same way: the same question types, a timer and the same pass mark. The questions are our own, written from the TfL handbook. They are not real test questions, and nobody can legally sell those.
Who checks the answers?
We write every question from the handbook and check each answer key twice, automatically, before it goes live. Think an answer is wrong? Tap "Report a problem" under the question and we will look at it within 2 working days.
Do I need an account?
No. Your answers stay on this device. You only need an email if you buy SERU Practice, so you can sign in on another phone or computer.
Is there a test for taxi drivers?
Yes. Choose "Taxi driver" above the Start button. The taxi test uses the Taxi Driver Handbook, so it has its own questions. One price covers both tests.
How many free questions are there?
The free test has 12 and full practice test 1 has 36. You can also practise 5 free questions from each of the 10 handbook sections, with every answer explained.
What do I get if I pay?
8 PHV and 6 taxi full practice tests, each with 36 questions and a 60-minute timer, plus unlimited personal tests made from your weak sections. You also get every question in the bank and every explanation in your language. Launch price £19.99. Not on sale yet., for 90 days. It is not on sale yet.
