Dual carriageways: keep left

Route rules. Last checked 3 Nov 2026.

Some main roads are two roads side by side, with a central reservation between them.

Drive on the left one.

You may cross the central reservation only where a drawn road joins the two halves. That is the only gap.

Road-name lettering is never a gap, even when it seems to break the line. If in doubt, it's not a gap.

You can't make a U-turn through a gap.
